RULES & HOW IT WORKS

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

Joe Fund Me is a community-driven trading platform where users propose trades and the community votes on whether to execute them. This is purely for entertainment and transparency - all trades execute in a personal account at the operator's sole risk.

HOW PROPOSALS WORK

Submit a Proposal: Any visitor can propose a trade by specifying a ticker symbol, suggested direction (BUY or SELL), trade amount ($1-$500), and a thesis explaining the reasoning.

Proposal Limits: Each person can submit up to 3 proposals per day (tracked by device/IP).
3.
Automatic Poll Creation: Proposals are automatically converted to polls that open at 6pm PT same day and close at 3:55pm ET the next trading day.
4.
Multiple Proposals per Ticker: If multiple people propose the same ticker, each creates a separate poll. The poll with the most total votes wins.

HOW VOTING WORKS

Independent Voting: Even though proposals suggest BUY or SELL, voters choose independently between BUY, SELL, or HOLD. The proposed direction is just context - the community decides the actual outcome.

One Vote per Poll: Each person can vote once per poll (tracked by device/IP + user agent hash).

Vote Weights: For the MVP, all votes have equal weight (1.0). Future versions may add verification for weighted voting.

Live Tallies: Vote counts update in real-time so you can see how each poll is trending.

EXECUTION LOGIC

Winner Selection: When polls close at 3:55pm ET, the system:

→Tallies votes for each poll (BUY, SELL, HOLD counts)
→Determines the winning choice per poll using plurality voting
→For each ticker with multiple polls, selects the poll with the most total votes
→Executes only the winning poll's outcome

Tie-Break Rules:

•If a poll has a clear winner (BUY, SELL, or HOLD), that choice wins
•If votes are tied and total votes are low (less than 30), priority is HOLD > BUY > SELL
•If votes are tied with higher participation, price momentum determines the outcome (positive → BUY, negative → SELL)

Trade Execution: Winning trades execute as market orders via the Alpaca brokerage API. HOLD outcomes skip execution. All execution details (order ID, fill price, quantity) are published on the results page.

ANTI-GAMING MEASURES

▸Device/IP hashing prevents duplicate votes from the same device
▸Rate limiting: 5 proposals per 10 minutes, 10 votes per minute per IP
▸User agent fingerprinting adds friction against simple bots
▸Vote patterns are logged for admin review

TRANSPARENCY

All poll outcomes, vote tallies, execution details, and order fills are published publicly on the results page. This includes:

✓Winning outcome (BUY, SELL, HOLD)
✓Complete vote breakdown
✓Alpaca order ID
✓Fill price and quantity
✓Execution timestamp
